Knittin', but not mittens
So the lovely Lissa asked about how my knitting is going and to that I say...it is going very well. Look! I'm making a blanket! And I even picked out the yarn and the pattern all on my own. I'm kind of in love wit this yarn despite it being all acrylicy and squeaky; it's knitting up very soft and considering the baby I am making it for is being born into the Most Allergic Family Ever there was no way I was going to use a single natural fiber in this project.I'm also working on a Booga Bag for y Little Sister, which is a whole bunch of knitting in the round that makes me tired. It's almost done but I need Bettina to show me how to do the i-cord for the handles before I accidentally use all the yarn up. And once she show me that, I'm going to have her help me get started on a pair of wrist warmers, probably Dashing because I want some longer ones. I have some of this yarn just waiting for e to get around to doing that one. I need to go pick up some DPNs first though; I invested in a set of Denise interchangeable needles but haven't gotten around to the rest of it.
Bettina and I have grand plans for picking out a sweater pattern together and working on it at the same time. I'm thinking a nice soft cotton sweater might be nice, something I can wear in the springtime. If anyone has suggestions for patterns (keeping in mind that I am still not an expert), I would be glad to have them.
Enough typing; I've got more knitting to do.
(Oh, and if anyone out there is on Ravelry, look me up...I'm Minarae on there, big surprise.)

They make nice acrylics these days, don't they? I have a bin of crap acrylics from the 80's, and looking at that, I will never look down on anyone using today's acrylics because honestly, we got it good compared to the 80's.
(some of the stuff I am throwing out is this vintage acrylic which I honestly have to say I was keeping for novelty's sake alone, because to knit with it? EW)
I've added you on Ravelry! It's SUCH a time sucker, and it makes me look like a complete sock addict. Not that it is far OFF, just...I swear I don't normally have five sock projects going on at once, and I really DO buy more than just sock yarn...really...
I am desperate to get to Wisconsin, if I don't actually make it as a Con member I'll be there anyway (since I lived there for 2 years, I can't go up without visiting my friends, and scheduling Con stuff and friends in the short time I get to go is just asking for madness) and I will hang out at least sometimes.
And failing that, well, goddamn it, I am just going to have to fly out to California, I guess. :P
Gosh this is a long comment. I am going to eat my lunch now.
Give Bettina a hug for me! I'm so impressed by knitters; all I ever end up with is knots and frustration.
